Lee Cattermole can barely believe moment witnessed up close in Sunderland win vs Bournemouth
Former Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole was surprised at the lack of discipline on display in Sunderland’s win against Bournemouth.
Brian Brobbey scored a dramatic winner as Sunderland beat Bournemouth 3-2 on Saturday, momentarily taking them back up to fourth in the Premier League.
The Cherries threw away a 2-0 lead, with Enzo Le Fee scoring from the spot, and Bertrand Traore levelling the game seconds into the second half.
However, it was what happened in the buildup to Le Fee’s goal that left Cattermole surprised, and it is in regard to the way Bournemouth went about their game.
Bournemouth started to lose composure vs Sunderland
Despite Bournemouth being 2-0 up, the momentum was actually with Sunderland shortly after.
Alex Scott was booked for a late challenge on Granit Xhaka, before then fouling Reinildo for Sunderland to be awarded a penalty.
Le Fee dispatched it from the spot, but Cattermole was surprised by the way the Cherries seemed to lose their composure, forcing them into some rash errors.
Via BBC Radio 5, he said: “Great penalty. He’s [Enzo Le Fee] a technician, and he’s been really good at them all season, but I’m just a bit surprised about what’s just happened from a Bournemouth point of view, to be honest.

“The tackle from Scott and then giving a penalty away like that. Sunderland are right back in this game now.”
Bournemouth’s unrest certainly gave Sunderland a platform to go on and take advantage of the momentum shift.

Lewis Cook received his marching orders for a cynical elbow on Noah Sadiki, with several members of the Bournemouth coaching staff also booked for their protests throughout the game.
