Regis Le Bris confirms ‘very interesting’ Alan Browne decision ahead of Preston reunion

Regis Le Bris has confirmed that Alan Browne will start in midfield for Sunderland in the absence of Jobe Bellingham against Preston.

Browne started the previous game with Chris Rigg missing out although he will be replacing the suspended Jobe for Sunderland’s trip to Deepdale.

The Irishman spent 10 years at Preston before joining Sunderland on a free last summer and Le Bris confirmed that he will start Wednesday’s (6 November) game at Deepdale when addressing the media in his latest press conference.

As quoted by the Sunderland Echo, the Frenchman said: “He (Browne) will play and he deserves to play obviously because he’s a great professional and with good experience, good leadership, quiet leadership but strong leadership is very interesting.

“Obviously our midfielders played very well since the beginning of the season and for Brownie he needed to wait but he knows that that league is so long that he was sure that he’ll have opportunities to play so it’s now and he did well so I’m confident for him.”

Alan Browne could be crucial to a Sunderland win

Not only does Browne possess the qualities needed to thrive in midfield, he knows Preston more than anyone. The manager, the players, the style of play as well as the fans.

His 10-year stay at the club should prove to be valuable to Sunderland as they look to get back to winning ways.

The Irishman boasts a wealth of experience at Championship level and will be crucial to Sunderland’s promotion hopes throughout the season.

Rigg is likely to return to the squad after missing their trip to Loftus Road at the weekend and will partner Browne in midfield.

While Sunderland have shown their ability to adapt to different opposition, Preston will provide a real test to their credentials with what is likely going to be a deep, physical style of play.

Browne’s presence may be crucial to breaking that down with his experience and know-how in the middle of the park.
