Kyril Louis-Dreyfus sends brilliant message to Sunderland fans after win vs Chelsea

Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus clearly loved the 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Sunderland beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge on 25 October through goals from Wilson Isidor and Chemsdine Talbi, after Alejandro Garnarcho had opened the scoring.

The result took the Black Cats to second place in the Premier League table, sparking jubilant scenes in the away end.

Louis-Dreyfus has now joined in the celebrations.

Sunderland have enjoyed a remarkable rise, taking the top-flight by storm, and that continued against Enzo Maresca’s side.

The 28-year-old took to Instagram on 25 October and posted a story, which featured a graphic of the table and the scoreline.

He accompanied it with a brilliant message, which said:

Louis-Dreyfus became a minority shareholder in the Mackems in February 2021 before increasing his share to 51 per cent in June 2022.

He then bought out Stewart Donald’s remaining shares to take his stake to 64 per cent in May 2023 and he has not disappointed in his time in charge.

The takeover brought an end to the Black Cats’ financial difficulties, and he ultimately brought Regis Le Bris to the North East from Lorient in France.

The appointment of the Frenchmen worked wonders and the club has gone from strength to strength, winning promotion back to the top-flight after an eight-year absence.

He was not afraid to give his backing in the summer and that has led to the great start to the campaign, which has exceeded the expectations of supporters, pundits and rival teams alike, as they brought in the likes of Nordi Mukiele, Simon Adigra and Talbi.

Long may it continue, but it looks like the immediate future of the club is in the division where it belongs after years of heartache for the Stadium of Light fans.
