Kyril Louis-Dreyfus sanctions £24m+ bid to seal last-gasp Sunderland signing
Sunderland have taken a huge step towards completing another new signing after lodging a fresh bid for one of their targets.
The Black Cats have had a mixed start to the new Premier League campaign, with last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Burnley taking some of the shine off the commanding win over West Ham on the opening day.
Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland side have shown that they have what it takes to compete in the top flight this term, but they will still be desperate to add the finishing touches to their squad with some last-minute business.
The Wearsiders have already completed 12 signings so far this summer, and that tally could now be about to climb even higher.

Sunderland launch new £24.1m bid for Jhon Lucumi
Jhon Lucumi has been heavily linked with Sunderland over the last few weeks, with Bologna even understood to have received an official bid for the centre-back.
The Black Cats have made it clear that they have a strong desire to bring the Colombian in before the imminent deadline, and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has just taken decisive action to help push towards a deal.
The Premier League outfit have now sent an improved bid of £24.1million for Lucumi, according to Fabrizio Romano via his X account.
Sunderland have also included the option of a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of their latest proposal for the 27-year-old, but their attempts to sweeten the deal for Bologna may still be in vain.
The Italians are thought to be insistant on keeping the defender, despite Le Bris’ side outlining him as their “priority target.”

Lucumi would be a great addition for Regis Le Bris
Sunderland have added the likes of Nordi Mukiele and Omar Alderete to their backline in recent weeks, but they could arguably still do with further depth at the centre of their defence.
There are question marks over whether the likes of Luke O’Nien, Jenson Seelt, and Leo Hjelde are good enough to play regular Premier League football.
As a result, there can be no doubt that Lucumi would be a crucial signing for Le Bris and Co.
He has over 90 appearances in Serie A and has tasted action in both the Champions League and Europa League.
That level of experience could be invaluable at the foot of the Premier League when it comes to providing Sunderland with the edge in tight games.
