Despite defeating Sheffield United in the play-off final, Bellingham has held talks with three German clubs about a move.

Now, the midfielder’s fate appears to be as good as confirmed, with Kyril Louis-Dreyfus instantly reacting to the latest news.

Sunderland supporters have known for some time that Bellingham would probably not be a Black Cat much longer.

As their season started to fall away, fans knew that a player of the teenager’s quality would not linger in the Championship for long.

However, promotion meant there was a chance that the midfielder would remain on Wearside for just a slightly extended period.

After contrasting reports about whether the 19-year-old would remain at the Stadium of Light or not, things have taken a sharp turn.

Firstly, reports emerged from Germany that Bellingham had chosen his next club, Borussia Dortmund.

As if that was not enough for Sunderland supporters to take, their owner, Louis-Dreyfus, then liked Fabrizio Romano’s post on X (2 June) regarding his decision.

Louis-Dreyfus’ action can surely only mean one thing as the Wearside star looks set to wave goodbye to the North East.

Sunderland prepared for Bellingham departure

While losing your best players is always tough to take, Sunderland have been planning for this eventuality for some time.

Indeed, these types of moves are always expected with the model that Louis-Dreyfus and Kristjaan Speakman have implemented in the North East.

Bellingham was acquired for an initial fee of around £1.5million, and now his stock has risen, word is the Wearsiders want around £30million.

That would represent an unprecedented profit for the Black Cats and highlights the solid business they have carried out, especially when Premier League PSR is around.

Regis Le Bris already has Enzo Le Fee, who can play in Bellingham’s position, but they still might replace the Dortmund-bound man.

Of course, it will be a shame to see Bellingham go, but Sunderland clearly have a plan.
