Kylian Mbappe messages Sunderland star after latest win vs Wolves in Premier League

Kylian Mbappe was keeping a close eye on Sunderland as they earned another magnificent Premier League win on Saturday.

Sunderland defeated Wolves 2-0 at the Stadium of Light, as Nordi Mukiele was on target for the Black Cats before an own goal from Ladislav Krejci late on sealed the win.

It means the Mackems sit seventh in the Premier League after eight games, with former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer stating Sunderland’s home form will be important when giving the Black Cats begrudging faint praise on Match of the Day.

Shearer was evidently not the only one paying attention to events at the Stadium of Light, though, as Real Madrid superstar Mbappe took to Instagram following the game.

Mbappe reacts to Nordi Mukiele post after Sunderland win vs Wolves

Mukiele was a team-mate of Mbappe’s at his former club Paris Saint-Germain, and the latter was evidently thrilled to see him on the scoresheet against Wolves.

Following the game, Mukiele posted a picture of himself celebrating against Wolves accompanied by the caption: “Unbelievable feeling to score here today. HUGE WIN !!! Thanks for the love !!”.

Mukiele received a lot of love for the post, with team-mates Dan Ballard and Granit Xhaka among those to reply to the 27-year-old.

Madrid and France ace Mbappe didn’t actually reply with any words but did post a gift, melting face, and love heart emoji to show his delight for Mukiele.

Mbappe’s brother, Ethan, also got in on the praise writing “Mukiiii” and adding three love heart emojis as well.

What did Regis Le Bris say about Nordi Mukiele after Sunderland win vs Wolves?

Sunderland signed Mukiele from PSG for £12million in the summer and has made six Premier League appearances for the Black Cats.

He is fast emerging as an important player for Regis Le Bris, who was full of praise for his versatile defender when speaking to Match of the Day after the game.

Le Bris said: “He has really good energy. He is a good player with a specific profile. He always shows this energy to go forward. Sometimes we have to manage that energy.”

Mukiele will continue to be an important player for Sunderland, who will not want to rest of their laurels after an impressive start to life back in the top flight.

Supporters will be aware that there is plenty of work still to do but you also have to enjoy the good times when they’re here, and Sunderland fans never need an excuse to have a good time. May the good times continue.
