Journalist shares what Nordi Mukiele told him about Sunderland fans – ‘I’ll tell you the truth…’
Sunderland have had many top summer signings perform already in the Premier League.
However, Nordi Mukiele has been performing for Sunderland in every game he’s played for the Black Cats.
Mukiele has been versatile for Regis Le Bris as the defender played on the right side of a back five during Sunderland’s 2-1 upset win over Chelsea.
The win came shortly after Sunderland‘s Premier League victory over Wolves as Kylian Mbappe messaged Mukiele to congratulate his former PSG teammate on his first goal for the Mackems.
Now, after the full-time scenes at Stamford Bridge, Mukiele has openly discussed one moment in particular that left him touched.
Nordi Mukiele is delighted for Sunderland fans after years of pain
Mukiele faces competition for a place in Sunderland’s starting lineup with the likes of Trai Hume, Omar Alderete, and Lutsharel Geertruida, but so far is making Le Bris’ job easy.
Against Chelsea, Mukiele was once again on top of his game and was a key reason for the Black Cats walking away from Stamford Bridge with three points.

Journalist Andy Sixsmith shared words from his interview with Mukiele on X, shortly after the Chelsea game, as the Frenchman explained how the “beautiful” Sunderland fans deserve the joy they’re having right now.
Mukiele said: “In that photo – I’ll tell you the truth. I knew the fans here weren’t happy for a long time about what was happening at the club.
“So I was thinking about what they must be feeling now, winning at Stamford Bridge against a historic club like Chelsea – and it made me really happy.
“Sunderland is a city where a lot of people love football so to see them like this is very beautiful.”
After Mukiele’s comments, Sunderland fans have had kind words to say in return for their star defender.

Sunderland fans will be delighted with how many of their new summer signings have performed, but they simply can’t ask for more than what Mukiele is giving the Mackems right now.
The defender is scoring goals, keeping clean sheets, and is working so hard for Le Bris’ team.
