Jobe Bellingham has two offers to quit Sunderland, ‘special’ transfer on the cards

Sunderland could struggle to keep some of their key assets at the Stadium of Light despite their promotion to the Premier League.

Regis Le Bris has had just a few days to bask in the glory of Sunderland’s Wembley triumph before rumours have begun to circulate about his players.

The Black Cats have been linked with bringing new signings through the door at the Stadium of Light to assist in their bid to stay in the top flight.

However, Sunderland could see some players depart in the summer, with clubs interested in multiple members of Le Bris’ young team.

Jobe Bellingham to assess his future with multiple clubs interested

Keeping Bellingham at Sunderland this summer could prove to be difficult, with clubs in the Champions League keen to acquire the teenager’s services.

According to GMS (29 May), Bellingham is “attracted” to the idea of leaving Sunderland to pursue a fresh challenge.

Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt have both made “strong pitches” to offer moves for the talented midfielder, with Bellingham reportedly visiting Frankfurt.

The reports also suggest that the player’s family feel a move to the Bundesliga would be a “special opportunity” that could aid in his development as a player.

The Black Cats’ promotion would have undoubtedly strengthened their negotiating position. With Kyril Louis-Dreyfus also inviting new investors on board as a result of their Premier League return, meaning any deal for Bellingham could prove to be an expensive one.

Sunderland should sell Bellingham if a big enough offer comes in

It is clear that, despite being a key part of Sunderland’s success last season, Bellingham has had his head turned by the potential interest in him.

Sunderland could struggle in the Premier League, and an immediate relegation back to the Championship is something the club should consider when preparing for the new campaign.

The departure of Bellingham seems inevitable sooner rather than later.

Selling the youngster whilst Sunderland are a Premier League club would increase his value as opposed to being forced to sell him on the cheap if the club were to be relegated.

Maximising the profit for Bellingham is essential, especially when you consider that Birmingham City have a sizeable sell-on clause in place for their former academy graduate.

The funds a sale of Bellingham would raise would allow for significant reinvestment in the squad.

Bringing Jordan Henderson back to the Stadium of Light could be a smart alternative as Sunderland look to avoid the drop.
