Jobe Bellingham development serves as bad news for Sunderland

Sunderland will have a huge task on their hands if they are to retain the services of Jobe Bellingham with or without promotion.

Sunderland’s only focus for now will be on achieving promotion via the playoffs, though they will have one eye on the summer transfer window to cover all eventualities.

Regardless of what happens between now and the end of May, Sunderland have a huge summer ahead, and a large part of that will be used to fight off interest in their key players.

Jobe is just one of several players to be linked with a move away from Wearside, and the latest update isn’t overly promising.

Man United eye Jobe deal this summer

Man United have been interested in Jobe for some time now, and according to Fichajes, that interest isn’t going to go anywhere.

However, it isn’t the interest that is worrying, with the report suggesting that a bid of over £21.5million could be enough to prize him away from Sunderland, which shouldn’t be the case.

Jobe has had a good season from midfield.

Not only is Jobe a future England international, but his ceiling is much higher than the majority of those playing in the Championship, and a sale of anything less than £30million would be borderline disrespectful.

Sunderland need to showcase their ambition with this one and ensure that, in the unfortunate event that he does leave, they get an excellent deal out of it.

Premier League football could save Sunderland

Sunderland will lose a lot of players if they fail to get promoted back to the Premier League, and that is the risk that comes with the current model.

However, with two games to go until the playoffs commence, it is vital that Regis Le Bris starts to formulate a plan to get his side at their best.

As it stands, Bristol City look likely to be their semi-final opponents, with either Sheffield United or Coventry awaiting them in the final.
