Jayden Danns development sure to spark confusion at Sunderland
Jayden Danns spent part of the Championship campaign on loan at Sunderland, but failed to make a single appearance.
Sunderland are already gearing up for their first Premier League campaign in eight years, with recruitment plans now in place.
Regis Le Bris’ side have been linked with several players already, with wingers and fullbacks of particular interest at the Stadium of Light.
After a concerning update on Dennis Cirkin, addressing the full-back areas will be important, though the latest rumour regarding Danns will have people scratching their heads.

Sunderland want to bring Danns back to Wearside
Danns, as it stands, will join the illustrious list of players to have signed for Sunderland and never played a game, alongside the likes of Emmanuel Eboue and Tommy Smith.
However, that could change this summer, with a report from the Northern Echo (1 June) claiming that the Black Cats are keen on taking the Liverpool striker back on loan for the Premier League season.
Given his lack of experience in senior football, his arrival in the Championship raised a few eyebrows, but after the failure of that spell, his addition in the Premier League would be even more confusing.
Liverpool | Games | Goals | Assists |
Danns | 9 | 3 | 0 |
With Eliezer Mayenda and Wilson Isidor, Sunderland have two solid attacking options, and Danns is unlikely to displace either of them. In addition, he would fill one of the five matchday loan spots that the Wearsiders can utilise next season.
It’s hard to see where Danns would fit in, and with a huge task ahead to stay in the top flight, Sunderland could make better use of their loan spots.

Sunderland have no margin for error this summer
In the Championship, you can be afforded some room for manoeuvrability when it comes to signings, but when trying to stay in the Premier League, you have to be ruthless.
Sunderland need players to come in and improve their starting 11, and very few would be able to argue that Danns would do that.
This summer is going to be huge for the Black Cats, and with the permanent arrival of Enzo Le Fee pending, they will be hoping to seal their second signing soon.
