Jamie Carragher leaves Jill Scott in disbelief with what he said about Sunderland
Sunderland have made an impressive start since returning to the Premier League this season.
The Black Cats are enjoying life in the top flight, with eight points from five games leaving them in seventh and the best performing newly promoted club.
With a win against Nottingham Forest last weekend, Sunderland can match West Ham who were the last promoted side to take 11 points from their opening six games back in 2012.
With wins against West Ham and Brentford and impressive draws against European competitiors Crystal Palace and Aston Villa has left Sunderland well placed in the early stages of the campaign.
Sunderland’s disappointing defeat away at Burnley has been the only dampener on Regis Le Bris welcome to the Premier League.

Jamie Carragher doubles down on his Sunderland stance
However, despite their strong start, Jamie Carragher has not been swayed on his pre-season prediction that Sunderland will be relegated straight back to the Championship.
Speaking on the ‘Stick to Football’ podcast, Carragher stood firm when Jill Scott asked about her childhood club.
“I still think they will [get relegated], you don’t change your predictions in September,” he said.
Reacting to his stance, Scott looked shocked and replied: “Do ya?”
Carragher also had Wolves and Burnley in the drop zone alongside the Black Cats.
Sunderland fans will be hoping Carragher’s not had his crystal ball out, as they look to break the trend of promoted sides heading straight back down to the Championship.

Wilson Isidor proving he can make the step up
A consistent source of goals will always give a club the best chance of staying in the division and Wilson Isidor is showing he can be for Sunderland.
The French forward has found the back of the net three times already in the league despite limited minutes.
His late winner against Brentford sent the Stadium of Light into pandemonium and his equaliser against Villa further implies he could be the man to extend Sunderland’s stay for at least another year.
Isidor is averaging 2.6 shots per match (stats by SofaScore) the same as Bournemouth’s in-form Antoine Semenyo and placing him in the top eight Premier League players for this metric, suggesting the volume chances are replicable from game to game.
If Sunderland are to prove Carragher wrong then Isidor and the rest of the attack will need to be on their best form.
