Henderson to Sunderland transfer now on after major Ajax development
Jordan Henderson’s sensational Sunderland return could be on amid a major recent development at Dutch giants Ajax.
Former Liverpool captain Henderson was at Wembley to watch his old side secure promotion back to the Premier League.
Sunderland beat Sheffield United 2-1, with Tom Watson scoring in extra time to send the Black Cats back to the top flight.
With the season now wrapped up, Sunderland’s transfer plans are starting to take shape as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Henderson transfer saga heats up after major update
Henderson may be on his way out of Ajax following a major development in his transfer saga.
Ajax head coach Francesco Farioli recently left the club, and the English international no longer believes he has a future in the Netherlands.
Journalist Mike Verweij, as per De Telegraaf (26 May), believes the captain of Ajax only wanted to stay if Farioli stayed.
“Ajax wants to get rid of his salary, which is one of the conflicts between the Ajax leadership and Francesco Farioli,” said Verweij.
“Farioli wanted to keep him, but Ajax wanted to get rid of his salary.
“I think now that Farioli is gone, Henderson wants to leave too. He felt a lot of confidence. I think the road to one of those two clubs is open.”
According to Verweij, the two clubs Henderson may be considering are Sunderland and Rangers.
“He is also linked to Rangers. Steven Gerrard seems to be the new coach there, and he would like to get Henderson that way,” explained Verweij.
“But Sunderland is his old club and of course he was in the stands there for good reason [at Wembley].”

Henderson’s potential impact at Sunderland next season
If Henderson were to join Sunderland, he could bring a wealth of experience and valuable leadership to the Black Cats’ midfield.
With Jobe Bellingham potentially leaving next summer, signing a new midfielder will be key for Sunderland’s campaign next season.

Henderson has proven himself to be a key midfielder for an Ajax side that narrowly missed out on the Eredivisie title on the final day of the season.
However, the former Sunderland player will want to get his future sorted quickly as he represents the English national team in early June.
The 34-year-old could be a coup for the Mackems as they look to prove they belong in the Premier League.
