Granit Xhaka signs – Régis Le Bris’ dream XI for Sunderland v West Ham

Sunderland’s starting XI could have a very different look to it against West Ham.

Régis Le Bris has been backed beyond expectations so far this summer, with Sunderland already spending over £100million on new transfers, several of which have raised eyebrows across Europe.

However, their business is far from done, with several more arrivals expected at the Stadium of Light before Sunderland return to home soil to face the Irons in August.

With that in mind, Mackem News takes a look at a dream starting 11 for the clash against West Ham.

Sunderland showing plenty of ambition this summer

Signing a new goalkeeper will be high up on the list of priorities for Sunderland, amid links to Senne Lammens.

The Belgian goalkeeper has been mooted for a move to the Stadium of Light, and would be an excellent upgrade on Anthony Patterson.

Reinildo has already made the move to bolster the left side of their defence, while John Lucumí could be added to do the same.

Dan Ballard may be given a chance to stake a claim for his place in the side in the top flight, with Trai Hume an almost nailed-on starter.

One of the most ambitious links so far this summer has seen Granit Xhaka mooted for a move, and given his experience and ability in the middle of the park, he would be an astounding addition to most Premier League sides, let alone one of whom is newly promoted.

Club-record signing Habib Diarra would partner him, with fans already pleased with the glimpse they got of his ability in the 4-0 win against South Shields.

Enzo Le Fee is another nailed-on starter after his permanent move from Roma. Meanwhile, a new look attack is likely to take to the pitch at the Stadium of Light.

Simon Adingra could transform Sunderland

Simon Adingra made the move from Brighton, becoming their sixth summer arrival, and he could be a game-changer for the Black Cats.

At just 23 years old, the Ivorian already has a wealth of Premier League experience and plenty of ability to go alongside it.

Chemesdine Talbi is another who fans are excited to see in action, with a spot on the right wing likely available for him.

As for the striker, several have been linked, but after such an impressive campaign in the Championship, Eliezer Mayenda could be given the nod to showcase his ability in the top flight, and potentially bolster his chances of making the first team for Spain.
