Granit Xhaka can make history vs Man United after latest Sunderland reveal

Granit Xhaka will be crucial to Sunderland’s chances of getting a win at Man United on Saturday.

Sunderland have had an excellent start to the season, though Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford will present them with one of, if not their biggest challenge of the season so far.

While the Red Devils may be struggling once again this season, Old Trafford’s advantage is a major thing for them, and that will be what the Black Cats have to contend with this weekend.

However, with Xhaka in the heart of midfield, they have a very good chance of achieving something special, and the Swiss midfielder could make history for the Black Cats.

Granit Xhaka has assisted Sunderland’s last three goals

Since arriving on Wearside, Xhaka has been sensational for Sunderland and is very quickly establishing himself as one of the best signings throughout the Premier League this season.

Omar Alderete scored the winner for Sunderland against Forest, and was assisted by Xhaka for the goal with a delightful free-kick to the back post area.

As was Wilson Isidor for both of Sunderland’s previous goals.

Saturday’s win against Forest marked the third assist in a row for Xhaka, and if he can do it again against the Red Devils this weekend, he would become the first Sunderland player to assist four goals in a row since Chris Waddle achieved the feat in 1997.

His importance to this Black Cats side cannot be underestimated, and they will need him at his best once again when they travel to Old Trafford.

Sunderland have added boost ahead of Man United clash

Xhaka has only lost three of his 11 league meetings with Man United, and his record in those games is encouraging.

The 33-year-old has scored three and assisted two in those encounters, and will no doubt be looking to add to that this weekend.

Man United may still be favourites to beat Sunderland, but as the Black Cats have shown several times already this season, they have the potential to cause yet another upset.
