Goodman excited by Le Fee signing at Sunderland amid Premier League admission
Don Goodman has hailed the signing of Enzo Le Fee as an exciting one for Sunderland after his loan move from Roma.
The Black Cats sent shockwaves through the Championship with the capture of Le Fee on loan, with their ambitions of getting promoted painted clearly.
Le Fee was revealed to supporters prior to their FA Cup defeat to Stoke City on Saturday (11 January), with Goodman excited by the new arrival as revealed exclusively to Mackem News.
“I understand the excitement around this one,” explained Goodman. “This is a big one in Championship terms, isn’t it?
“He’s coming from a big club, has worked with the head coach before. So it’s an exciting signing, his pedigree is there for all to see.
“So let’s hope that he can settle into what is the hurly-burly of the Championship. He’s certainly got good players around him and the type of player that he is, you would like to think that he would be able to step up the level and adapt to the Premier League should they get promoted.”
Enzo Le Fee is a statement signing by Sunderland
Given how high his stock has been for the past several years, his arrival showcases a huge signal of intent from the Black Cats in their bid to make a return to the Premier League.
Things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Frenchman at Roma but his spell at Lorient, under Regis Le Bris, saw him play the best football of his career and even saw him courted by several top European clubs before a move to Rennes.
Given his ability to play in several midfield roles, his impact could be huge for the remainder of the season and could be just what Sunderland need to get them over the finish line.

Of course, retaining key players will have just as much of an influence as new arrivals with Trai Hume being courted by Crystal Palace [Graeme Bailey].
If Sunderland can keep their star players while adding in other areas, they have every chance of achieving their ultimate goal of promotion.
