‘Ghisolfi to play blinder’ as Mikautadze to Sunderland update emerges

Sunderland’s appointment of Florent Ghisolfi could be crucial for their recruitment this summer.

Sunderland have already broken their transfer record this summer with the signing of Habib Diarra from Strasbourg, with the expectation that it will be broken once again in the coming weeks.

As for other incomings, a deal for Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic is reportedly close, while Noah Sadiki has completed a medical at the Stadium of Light.

However, the Black Cats are yet to add any new quality to their attacking lineup, though that could change in the next few days.

Georges Mikautadze deal on the cards at Sunderland

Aside from the links with Armand Lauriente and Vadyslav Vanat, both of which have seemed to dwindle over the past few weeks, Sunderland are yet to be linked with any attacking arrivals.

That was until it was reported that Georges Mikautadze is a Black Cats target, with the Wearsiders looking to take advantage of Lyon’s financial struggles, which have seen them relegated to Ligue 2.

An appeal will be launched against the decision, though there remains a high likelihood that the French outfit will have to offload some of their stars in a bid to balance the books.

Mikautadze is one player who could leave, with a report from Corriere Dello Sport (2 July) stating that Ghisolfi tried to bring the Georgian international to Roma, while he was employed in Italy.

That deal never happened, but the newly-installed Sunderland chief is now keen to bring Mikautadze to the Premier League, with the Black Cats’ financial position said to give them the edge over Roma in the battle for the forward’s signature.

Sunderland are showing serious ambition this summer

The imminent arrival of Sadiki will take Sunderland’s summer spending north of £60million already, and the Black Cats are far from done yet.

Signing a new striker, winger, and centre back will be high up on their list of priorities, with loan spots also to fill if required. It is shaping up to be a very exciting summer for Sunderland, who will be well aware of the task ahead as they make their long-awaited return to the Premier League.
