‘Foolish’ – Reinildo facing additional sanction for moment of madness vs Aston Villa
Sunderland salvaged a valuable point in the Premier League against Aston Villa.
Regis Le Bris was without Habib Diarra for the all-important clash after suffering an injury in training.
Despite a promising start to the match at the Stadium of Light, things took a turn when Reinildo was given a straight red card.
Matty Cash gave Unai Emery’s side the lead before Wilson Isidor bagged a deserved equaliser in a relentless 1-1 draw.

This article contains exclusive opinion from former FIFA referee Keith Hackett.
Reinildo could face further action after Sunderland red card
Sunderland were eyeing history against Aston Villa as a win would have meant a third successive home victory.
However, that task was made almost impossible when Reinildo was given his marching orders in the first half.
Matty Cash appeared to shove the left-back over on the touchline before the 32-year-old kicked out while falling to the ground.
The referee took his time before brandishing a straight red card, having consulted VAR over his earpiece.
Now, Hackett- speaking exclusively to Mackem News – has stated that he could face further disciplinary action.
“It is a foolish reaction which left referee Barrott with little alternative than to issue a red card,” said Hackett.
“His reaction may well lead to a further disciplinary charge and additional sanction.”

Who could fill the void left by Reinildo?
Sunderland have a couple of injuries at left-back, meaning that they are not exactly blessed with options.
Dennis Cirkin is a long-term injury for Sunderland, while Leo Hjelde has also been sidelined for some time.
However, Arthur Masuaku will likely be the main beneficiary as he is the only natural option within Le Bris’ squad.
The former West Ham man has made just one appearance for the Wearsiders, and that came in the penalty shootout defeat to Huddersfield Town.
While Reinildo’s red card cost Sunderland the match, there could be further issues on the horizon for the North East club.
