Florent Ghisolfi delivers another masterclass after Sunderland star’s 100% display vs Chelsea
Florent Ghisolfi has overseen what is arguably the best transfer window in Sunderland’s history.
Having been announced as the new director of football in July, Ghisolfi was tasked with signing players who could lead Sunderland to Premier League safety.
The Black Cats made 14 summer signings, and they have started the season brilliantly under Regis Le Bris.
Sunderland’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday has left them fourth in the table, and each summer signing is adapting to the Premier League at an increasing rate.

Reinildo returns to the starting lineup with a monumental performance
Reinildo joined Sunderland on a free transfer after his contract expired at Atletico Madrid in June.
The 31-year-old was faultless on Saturday after returning to the team following his three-match suspension.
Against Chelsea, the Mozambique international won 100 per cent of his aerial duels, whilst registering an 81 per cent pass accuracy.
| Stat | Reinildo |
| Tocuhes | 38 |
| Pass accuracy | 81% |
| Ground duels won | 56% |
| Aerial duels won | 100% |
| Clearances | 3 |
Reinildo was also the most fouled player in the match, winning four fouls during the course of the game, and allowing Sunderland to slow the game down when they needed to.
Against both Pedro Neto and Estevao, Reinildo looked at ease when isolated out wide and handled the threat brilliantly.
Ghisolfi and Kristjaan Speakman have ambitiously focused their efforts on attracting players who have a proven track record at the top level, and Reinildo’s four-year stint at Atletico Madrid has shown he is exactly what Sunderland needed.
Granit Xhaka and Robin Roefs have been excellent acquisitions, and the director of football looks to have struck gold yet again with Reinildo.

For Reinildo, this performance has come at the perfect time for both himself and the club.
Reinildo redeems himself after Aston Villa red card
Reinildo’s red card against Aston Villa left him suspended for the last three Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest, Man United, and Wolves.
In that time, Arthur Masuaku struggled to deputise at left-back, and Reinildo’s defensive qualities were clearly missed.
Throughout all six of his Premier League appearances this season, he has won 65 per cent of his duels, whilst making eight interceptions.
It seems like a huge oversight that Sunderland were left unchallenged to sign Reinildo for free, but Ghisolfi and co. will be thrilled as the Mackems continue to reap the rewards of smart recruitment.
