Sunderland make ‘big statement’ with ‘risky Enzo Le Fee transfer’ – Expert
Dan Plumley claims the signing of Enzo Le Fee could bring a “high reward” for Sunderland as they look to make a return to the Premier League.
Sunderland showcased their promotion ambitions with the signing of Le Fee on a season-long loan from Roma with an obligatory fee that could hit £20.1million should they achieve it (Fabrizio Romano).
Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, the football finance expert admitted it was a statement of intent with the Frenchman already impressing on Wearside
“They’re perhaps above their own expectations and what would they do in January with maybe a promotion push on the horizon, this is a huge statement, isn’t it, in that regard,” Plumley said.
“If you’re looking at that kind of player and that kind of fee, then I think that shows pretty clear that they’re going to have a really good go at this, and fair play in that regard but again, it’s not without its risks.
“I think this is a big statement of intent from Sunderland in terms of the direction they want to go in.
“It could very much be a high reward for high risk and interesting to see how that one plays out over the next few months.”
Enzo Le Fee off to a flyer for Sunderland
The Frenchman has already earned the respect of Sunderland supporters with a series of impressive performances, one of which he was robbed of an assist after the controversial ghost goal against Derby.
His performances will only get better as he gets more used to English football and as players come back from injury, his impact will start to prosper in his more natural position.

Le Fee has been utilised wide left in the absence of Romaine Mundle and Tommy Watson and despite impressing, his role in the midfield will become more crucial as the promotion races goes on.
The early signs from his showings are very promising and with one or two more additions of that quality, Sunderland have every chance of achieving promotion.
