Fans will love Premier League announcement concerning Granit Xhaka and Sunderland teammate
Sunderland have revelled in the Premier League since making the seismic leap from the Championship.
Much was made about the gap between the two divisions this summer, but that has since vanished because of the Black Cats.
Regis Le Bris’ latest victory over Nottingham Forest justified all the hype surrounding the North East outfit and showed that they are here to stay.
Now the Wearsiders have been recognised for their stellar early-season form after the latest Premier League announcement.

Granit Xhaka and Robin Roefs nominated for Player of the Month
Roefs and Xhaka have been two of Sunderland’s star players this season, but in truth, most players have impressed on Wearside.
Xhaka has driven the Black Cats forward and already boasts some impressive attacking figures in the Premier League, including three assists.
As for Roefs, he has produced three clean sheets since his move from NEC Nijmegen, with two of those coming in the last two away games.
Now, the Premier League and EA Sports have announced the Sunderland duo in their Player of the Month nominations for September, alongside Erling Haaland, Daichi Kamada, Yankuba Minteh and Martin Zubimendi.
Indeed, the announcement on 2 October backs up just how good the pair have been, but more importantly, the impact the Black Cats are having on the top flight.
While Manchester City striker Haaland will be the favourite to scoop the award, it would be unsurprising if either Sunderland player pipped him to the accolade.
Sunderland set for tougher October in Premier League
Le Bris picked up some eye-catching Premier League results in September, in a month the Wearsiders went unbeaten.
However, the North East club are set to be tested in October, with two standout fixtures against English giants.
- Man United (A)
- Wolves (H)
- Chelsea (A)
While a trip to Old Trafford used to strike fear into teams, Sunderland head into the encounter with genuine belief in clinching a result.
Such has been the Black Cats’ form that they will be expected to get points on home soil against bottom-side Wolves.
However, the toughest test will come against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, although they have shown their frailties in recent weeks.
Seeing Xhaka and Roefs nominated for the award brings joy to my face, and there will likely be many more nominations to come.
