Everything we know about Robin Roefs injury, including when he could return
Sunderland fans will be hoping to see Robin Roefs return from injury sooner rather than later.
The shot-stopper has arguably been one of Regis Le Bris’s best performers this season and has most likely multiplied his market value through terrific performances.
The Dutchman has even been linked with the likes of Chelsea, among other Premier League giants, for his standout displays, but the Black Cats will be keen to hold on to him for at least one more campaign.
Now, the Mackems are counting down the days until Roefs makes his return, which doesn’t seem too far away.

What do we know about Robin Roefs injury?
As seen in the image provided by Sofascore above, Roefs has been a consistent performer for Sunderland all season long.
The 23-year-old’s last game before injury came against Bournemouth in the 1-1 draw at the end of February, as he’s since been replaced by Melker Ellborg for the last two matches.
- Roefs missed the 1-0 win over Leeds and 1-0 loss to Port Vale in the cup
- He had played in all 28 of Sunderland’s league games up until his injury
The goalkeeper’s issue was sustained during the 1-1 draw against the Cherries, while overstretching his hamstring trying to make a save.
The injury has been described as a “minor” hamstring issue, which has surely eased the concerns of many Mackems.
This type of setback is usually a grade one hamstring problem, leaving most players out for one to three weeks. This means the keeper should already be on his way back by partaking in rehabilitation.

What has Regis Le Bris said about Roefs injury?
Sunderland want to finish their season on a high, and to do so, they will hope to harness the Stadium of Light in their next Premier League game against Brighton this Saturday.
The Black Cats then face Newcastle at St. James’ Park the week after, where Le Bris is hopeful of Roefs’ return to action.

Le Bris said after the Leeds win, as quoted by Fantasy Football Scout: “A minor hamstring injury. He stretched his leg during a good save for us at Bournemouth, but unfortunately, he picked up an injury. I hope it won’t be too long.
“It’s not clear at the minute because it would be symptoms-based. It might be two, maybe three weeks. We’ll see for Newcastle, we’ll see, we’ll have to wait.”
While Ellborg has impressed, there’s no reason why Roefs should come back in for the derby, should his recovery go to plan.
