Everything Regis Le Bris said about Amad ahead of Man United vs Sunderland

Sunderland will face off against a familiar face when they travel to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Sunderland head into Saturday’s clash with Man United on a four-game unbeaten run, looking to extend that ahead of the next international break.

The Black Cats have picked up 11 points from their first six games in the Premier League, which is only a handful less than the Red Devils have accumulated since April last season.

Amad Diallo is likely to play against Sunderland for the first time during his loan spell in the Championship, and Regis Le Bris was quizzed on the Ivorian ahead of the clash.

Sunderland fans loved Amad

Fans are always told to never fall in love with a loan player, but there was something different about Amad and his time at Sunderland.

After a failed loan spell at Rangers, the Ivorian dropped down to the Championship in a bid to get back to his best, and prove his worth to Man United after a big-money move from Atalanta.

It worked, and it didn’t take long for Amad to install himself as a fan favourite at Sunderland through his ability on the pitch and his general demeanour around Wearside.

However, this Saturday, Amad will be an enemy for the Black Cats, and Le Bris has spoken out about what to expect from the Man United star.

As quoted on the Sunderland X account, Le Bris said in his press conference on Thursday: “Many people still speak about his time here. He possesses great talent.

“He will always be a friend of the club, just not for 90 minutes on Saturday.”

How Amad Diallo fared at Sunderland

Amad came up with some big goals in big moments for the Black Cats, including a remarkable effort from distance to get Sunderland on course to achieve a top-six finish in their first season back in the Championship.

That was one of just 14 goals he scored for the Wearsiders, with four assists to his name as well in the 42 appearances he made.

Goals against Birmingham, Luton and Preston are among the most notable moments in his Sunderland career, which many are still hoping can be extended in the near future.
