‘Evan Guessand in lucrative transfer talks’ after Sunderland news

Sunderland are having the ideal summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Five signings have already joined up with Regis Le Bris’ squad, and Sunderland are expected to recruit further in the coming weeks.

The signings of Habib Diarra, Enzo Le Fee, Chemsidine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, and Reinildo Mandava have all been confirmed by the Black Cats so far.

However, Sunderland were dealt their first bad hand when the transfer of Armand Lauriente fell through, and now one of their other targets looks to be heading elsewhere.

Evan Guessand linked with move to Saudi Arabia

Sunderland will hope to sign a striker this summer, as they look to provide competition for Eliezer Mayenda and Wilson Isidor.

The Black Cats have been linked with a move for Nice frontman Evann Guessand, but the 24-year-old could now be heading to the Middle East.

Guessand impressed last season

Saudi Arabian side Neom, who are also looking to sign Sunderland target Granit Xhaka, are interested in Guessand, according to L’Equipe (21 July).

The Ivorian starred for OGC Nice last season as the French side finished fourth in Ligue 1.

The 24-year-old possesses goal-scoring and creative talent and has made a name for himself as one of the best forwards in France.

Should he join the Saudi side, Guessand will likely be on a lucrative salary at Neom, who gained promotion to the Saudi Pro League last season.

Sunderland need more firepower up front

Sunderland showed in their 1-0 friendly loss to Sporting Lisbon that they could struggle in front of goal.

The Black Cats failed to convert many of their chance over their two games in Portugal, and supporters will be worried if Le Bris’ side don’t sign a striker before the start of the season.

However, there is no doubt that the Mackems hierarchy and Kristjaan Speakman will be working hard to put the Lauriente transfer behind them and find a suitable alternative.
