Sunderland early team news v Millwall: Le Bris shares Enzo Le Fee update

Enzo Le Fee established himself as a key player for Sunderland after signing on loan from Roma in the January transfer window.

He has made eight appearances for the Mackems so far, notching one goal and one assist in the process as the club push for a Premier League return.

Le Fee particularly impressed the Sunderland faithful with his performance in last month’s 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough, as he created an assist for star striker Wilson Isidor.

But the man on loan from Roma has not been able to feature for the Mackems since 22 February while he nurses an injury.

Le Bris reveals Le Fee could be fit for Millwall clash

Last time out, the Black Cats suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat to fellow play-off candidates Coventry, and Le Bris’ men are next in action on 29 March when they take on Millwall following the international break.

Sunderland boss Le Bris has revealed that Le Fee could be fit to face the Lions, as he told the Sunderland Echo: “I’m hopeful that Leo [Hjelde] and probably Enzo too, they should be available [for the Millwall game], I think.”

Le Fee’s return could hand Sunderland a major boost

Despite their disappointing 3-0 defeat at Coventry on Saturday, Sunderland are still comfortably within the play-off spots in fourth place, and hold a healthy 12-point gap over seventh-place Bristol City.

But their defeat to Frank Lampard’s side marked the second consecutive game in which Le Bris’ men have dropped points, after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Preston on 11 March.

It is vital, then, that with just eight games remaining in the Championship campaign, Sunderland can restore their momentum ahead of their likely participation in the play-offs.

The seemingly imminent return of Le Fee will likely help their cause, as he has already proven himself to be a class act during his eight appearances for the North East giants so far.

If Le Fee is able to hit the ground running at his creative best, once he returns from injury, it would be a major boost for Le Bris and co.
