Enzo Le Fee shares what Regis Le Bris said at half-time in Sunderland draw vs Everton

Enzo Le Fee has shared the advice from Regis Le Bris that led to Sunderland battling back to earn a point in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Everton.

Sunderland recovered well to secure a point against Everton in a 1-1 draw, but their dreadful start to the game had them on the back foot immediately.

The Toffees very nearly took the lead inside 15 seconds, but indeed had to wait until the 15th minute, when Iliman Ndiaye scored a controversial goal.

It was a ropey first half for Le Bris’ side, and the Frenchman responded at half-time by reminding his players of the standards they have already set for themselves after an excellent start to the campaign.

Sunderland maestro not happy with point vs Everton

Sunderland maintained their unbeaten home run, but will be frustrated with the fact that they were far from their best in the early stages.

In an interview with Andy Sixsmith, Le Fee said: “We can’t be happy with this point because we lost our three points in the first 30 minutes. I don’t know why we were so bad with the ball.

Bad is being generous, with the Black Cats constantly losing possession, and could have easily found themselves two or three goals down by the break.

However, by keeping the deficit to one, Sunderland always had a chance, with Le Bris reminding his side of their principles at half-time.

“At half-time, Regis reminded us of our standards and what he expects from us,” Le Fee added. “The second half was our standard. Our football.”

Second half display showcased Sunderland’s strengths

Aside from a late counter-attack, Everton barely had a look in after the break, and that was down to Sunderland penning them in their own half.

Jordan Pickford, on his return to the Stadium of Light, was called into a handful of saves, with the Black Cats also denied what seemed like a stonewall penalty for handball.

If Le Bris‘ side are to keep winning games, they will need performances to match the levels of the second half, as opposed to the first.

With that said, Arsenal are next up at the Stadium of Light, and that will be the Black Cats’ biggest test of the season by a considerable margin.
