Enzo Le Fee cements starting place, 4/10 sparks concern – Sunderland player ratings vs Brentford

Sunderland struck incredibly late to secure a dramatic win at home to Brentford.

Off the back of Sunderland’s Carabao Cup defeat to Huddersfield, Regis Le Bris needed to see a reaction from his side against Brentford.

It started well, and Sunderland had a shout for a penalty at the Stadium of Light, not long before the visitors had a goal ruled out for offside.

Not long into the second half, a penalty was awarded, this time for Brentford, who failed to take advantage from the spot.

Le Bris’ side had several chances but failed to take them, while Brentford took theirs in the 75th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The topic of penalties carried through to the final stages when Sunderland were awarded one of their own, to which Enzo Le Fee dispatched with ease, not long before Wilson Isidor’s 95th-minute header secured all three points in a 2-1 win.

Enzo Le Fee takes his chance vs Brentford

Sunderland’s summer squad overhaul has seen Enzo Le Fee reduced to the bench this season, though that may change going forward.

The Frenchman contributed defensively and scored the penalty that earned his side a route back into the game at the Stadium of Light.

Le Fee will always be a creative asset, and perhaps more importantly, a work-horse.

While the former wasn’t allowed to flourish as much against Brentford, the latter certainly played a huge part in a much-needed point.

Chemsdine Talbi frustrates again for Sunderland

Chemsdine Talbi is clearly a talented player, but for whatever reason, that talent has yet to translate into anything meaningful for Sunderland.

He saw plenty of the ball against Brentford, but either took a safe option with the ball or tried to overplay it.

Sunderland got into some very good areas against the Bees, but the lack of creativity from the right flank meant that it often resulted in nothing.

It is an area that the Black Cats are looking to address in the final few days of the window, meaning it could be time for Talbi to have a few games as an impact substitute.
