Danny Wright
Danny graduated with a degree in Sports Journalism from Staffordshire University in 2016. After previously writing for the Birmingham Mail and working in the media team at Macclesfield Town FC, he started work at Football Insider in 2017. He was promoted to Breaking Media's Head of Editorial in 2021 and has since been spearheading the launch of numerous football news websites.
Josh Edwards
Josh is a massive Sunderland supporter from Durham and has history of writing (and podcasting!) about the Black Cats prior to earning a Sports Journalism degree in 2024. He's contributed to work for the Sunderland Echo, ALS Fanzine and several other outlets throughout the highs and lows on Wearside. From the depths of League One to the highs of the Premier League, he has experienced it all, while remaining a season ticket holder throughout. Josh joined Breaking Media in October 2024.
Mark Smith
Mark graduated with a degree in Sports Journalism from Leeds Trinity University in 2018. From there, he catapulted straight into writing about his passion, football. Starting at Breaking Media back in 2019, he has since worked his way to become an Assistant Editor.
Pete Hanson
Peter graduated with a Masters in Sports Journalism from the University of Hallam in 2012. He spent 10 years working as a senior digital journalist at Stats Perform, having previously held roles at the Press Association and the Rotherham Titans. He joined Breaking Media in July 2023 as an assistant editor, writing and editing editorial content for the company's club websites.
Tom Griffin
Tom graduated with a BA Hons English Language degree from the University of Hull in 2020. He spent years as a freelance football journalist before holding positions as a content writer at SportsBroker and a digital football journalist at GRV Media. He joined Breaking Media in August 2025 as an assistant editor, writing and editing content for the company's club sites and leading the feature content for Football Insider.
Daniel Lewis
Daniel is a journalism graduate from the University of South Wales who has 10 years of experience in the sports side of the industry, which includes covering major events such as World Cups and the Champions League final for Stats Perform and Sports Mole. While he has an interest in rugby union, snooker and darts – yes, darts – football is top of the list in terms of favourite sport.

Mackem News Speaking to Derek Ferguson
Mackem News is delighted to welcome former Sunderland star Derek Ferguson as one of it's exclusive pundits. Ferguson played for the Black Cats between 1993 and 1995, making 64 league appearances for the club. He's well known for playing for Rangers and Hearts as well as appearing nowadays on BBC Radio Scotland.
Dan Plumley
Dr Dan Plumley is a senior lecturer and researcher at Sheffield Hallam University. He's a Chartered Global Management Accountant and spends his time researching football finance for our website. He's also a member The Football Collective, who are dubbed as the 'academic voice of football'.
Keith Hackett
We are delighted to welcome Keith Hackett, one of the top 100 referees of all time, as our new columnist. Keith's refereeing career spanned over 19 years as he officiated in the Football League and Premier League and was FIFA listed for 10 years. From FA Cup finals to the European Championships and the from the PGMOL to writing books, it's harder to find anyone who knows more about refereeing than Keith.

Declan Carr
Declan is a sports reporter from Liverpool that covers multiple clubs. He graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a Masters degree in Sports Journalism in 2022. He has written for outlets such as the Liverpool Echo, Sports Mole and VAVEL. He has extensive experience covering press conferences and attending European matches as a member of the media.
Evan Lloyd
Evan Lloyd has featured for several websites, including VAVEL, Hayters TV, SPORTbible and Centredevils. He joined Breaking Media in July 2025 after attaining his NCTJ qualification.
Evan Shaw
Evan began working for Breaking Media in June 2025, when he took on a role writing across their club sites. He graduated with a degree in Football Journalism from Derby University in the same year, having previously combined his studies with work for Football League World, and an internship with Burton Albion Football Club.
Jack Dawson
Jack graduated from the University of Derby with Football Journalism and a Masters in Journalism in 2022. He has since held roles at Edinburgh Evening News and GRV Media working on both men's and women's football. He joined Breaking Media in April 2025.
Jacob Raw
Jacob Raw graduated from Teesside University with a 1:1 BA (Hons) in sport journalism. During his studies, he built a strong portfolio working for the likes of Durham Cricket Club, also working abroad covering the International Quizzing Championship's. He has worked as an MMA journalist, interviewing UFC and amateur talent. He's also previously contributed to the Northern Echo with an award-winning short documentary of non-league club Marske United FC.
Kyrenia Shipillis
Kyrenia will graduate with a Master's in Sports Journalism from St Mary's University, Twickenham in 2025. She spent several months working for the Non-League Paper and has written for the Sports Gazette. She has also produced written content for Connectsport.
Max Wilkins
Max graduated with a degree in Football Journalism from the University of Derby in 2023. After previously writing for VAVEL, Lichfield City and GRV Media, he started work at Breaking Media in 2024.
Samuel Fabre
Samuel graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sports Journalism from Bournemouth University in 2025. He has previously written for Get Football Group and Trill Magazine over the course of his studies. He joined Breaking Media in August 2025 as a writer for the company's different club sites.
