Eberechi Eze ‘to trigger unwanted domino effect’ amid Abdul Fatawu to Sunderland update
Sunderland’s hopes of signing Abdul Fatawu may have just taken a hit.
Optimism is coursing through the veins of everyone on Wearside after Sunderland’s 3-0 victory against West Ham on the opening day of the season.
However, those of a red and white persuasion will be well aware of the fact that there is still work to be done on the transfer front, having been linked with a move to sign Fatawu from Leicester City.
Fatawu impressed in the Premier League last season, but news emerging from Tottenham could have a big impact on their ability to get this deal over the line.

Leicester are going to be reluctant to sell Fatawu
Fatawu would be a great signing for Sunderland, but as per the latest reports elsewhere, it is now looking very unlikely.
That is because it is reported that Eberechi Eze is closing in on a move to Tottenham from Crystal Palace, with the finer details of the transfer being ironed out.
The Eagles are then set to turn their attention to Sunderland-linked Bilal El-Khannouss, and if successful in their attempt, it seems almost nailed on that Leicester would rebuff any offers for Fatawu.
Sunderland have already added Simon Adingra and Chemsdine Talbi to their options as wide attackers, both of whom registered an assist in their win against West Ham, though one more is needed.
While a deal for Fatawu now seems unlikely, the Black Cats will undoubtedly have other targets in mind heading into the final 11 days of the transfer window.

Fatawu failure could be a good thing for Sunderland
While the 21-year-old impressed in the Premier League, his numbers weren’t overly impressive, and Sunderland need players to contribute to goals.
Added to that, Fatawu would be yet another player jetting off for AFCON in December, leaving them very short on attacking options.
It isn’t the be-all and end-all, but the Black Cats should be looking at a top-quality addition who can fill in for the departing players, as opposed to joining them in a potential six-week absence.
