‘Dennis Cirkin future sealed’ as Sunderland offer four-year deal to sign left-back

Dennis Cirkin’s sale could be next at Sunderland as the Black Cats eye a second defensive arrival.

Sunderland have had a hectic few weeks on the recruitment front, with a club-record deal for Habib Diarra announced, and a medical complete for the arrival of Noah Sadiki.

Countless other high-profile players have been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, as Regis Le Bris looks to strengthen his side ahead of their return to the Premier League.

A deal for Reinildo is still expected on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid, and with another left-back arrival in the pipeline, it isn’t looking good for the future of Cirkin.

Melvin Bard offered Sunderland contract

Sunderland have showcased their intentions already this summer with several high-profile moves in the pipeline, one of which seems to be Melvin Bard.

That is according to Fabrice Hawkins, who reported via X that the Black Cats have offered a four-year deal to Bard, with the option of an extra year, while still in negotiations with Nice over a potential transfer fee.

Now, with Reinildo also playing as a left-back, and certainly not a backup one, Bard’s addition could only be seen as a replacement for Cirkin, given the fact that he would become their third left-back.

Cirkin is out of contract next summer and has already been linked with a return to Tottenham, and Sunderland will not want to lose such a highly-rated player on a free.

Taking that into account, there is every chance that the Black Cats have resigned to his sale this summer, which, if it is to be the case, would be a huge disappointment after such a productive few years on Wearside.

Florent Ghisolfi influence already felt at Sunderland

While Florent Ghisolfi still hasnt started his role at Sunderland in an official manner, it is clear that he has already influenced the recruitment on Wearside.

Several of his former targets have been linked with a move, including Georges Mikautadze of Lyon, and it is certainly cause for optimism.

Sunderland have already spent north of £60million this summer, with many more additions expected before the season opener against West Ham.
