Dennis Cirkin exit on the cards amid ‘sad’ developments at Sunderland
Dennis Cirkin has yet to make an appearance for Sunderland in the Premier League.
The summer transfer window brought plenty of optimism for Sunderland supporters, but perhaps some concern for those who had played their role in getting the Black Cats back in the top flight.
Several stars were moved on in the summer, including Patrick Roberts, who joined Birmingham, though Cirkin was one who stayed.
Despite being linked with a move to Tottenham, Cirkin remains at the Stadium of Light, though that could change in January.

Mackem News presents the exclusive opinion of iconic football commentator Ian Darke.
Sunderland could part ways with Dennis Cirkin
Dan Neil’s exit from Sunderland has already been mooted, with Cirkin in a very similar position.
Neither look likely to break back into the first team fold under Regis Le Bris, while both are out of contract next summer.
Ian Darke, when speaking exclusively to Mackem News, thinks there is a chance the Black Cats cash in on him this winter.
He said: “Cirkin’s falling further and further away from the team.
Cirkin’s injury record
- 25/26 – 5 games missed
- 24/25 – 3 games missed
- 23/24 – 18 games missed
- 22/23 – 27 games missed
- 21/22 – 8 games missed
“I’m sure Sunderland fans are reflecting that, although it’s probably needed, it’s quite sad that the players who got them into the Premier League in the first place, not many of them are seeing much action, actually, in the Premier League.
“But it’s, you know, these are decisions the club felt they needed to make to stay afloat in the Premier League, and you’d have to say they’ve taken the right course of action, judged on what’s happening so far.”

Arthur Masuaku is ahead of Dennis Cirkin at Sunderland
Reinildo has impressed at Sunderland, and there is no chance of him losing his place in the side unless injury concerns emerge or suspensions.
Behind him in the pecking order is Arthur Masuaku, who is yet to make an appearance in the league.
That leaves Cirkin in the dark when it comes to his future at the Stadium of Light, and while he may be needed when AFCON comes around, his impact until then and even after then is going to be minimal.
