‘Dan Neil exit – Three teams who could sign Sunderland star’ after Xhaka news
Dan Neil may get pushed out at Sunderland if Granit Xhaka signs.
An agreement is in place between the Black Cats and Xhaka, who are now awaiting the green light from Bayer Leverkusen to proceed with the transfer.
Should it go through, Sunderland would welcome their fourth midfield addition of the summer, which will push Neil down the pecking order.
With just a year left on his contract, that level of importance may not be enough to persuade Neil to sign a new deal at the Stadium of Light.
Mackem News looks at three potential destinations if he were to move on this summer.

David Moyes to swoop for Neil
Sunderland certainly have their rivalry with David Moyes, given the fact that he was the man who started their regression back in 2016.
The Scotsman led the Black Cats to relegation before leaving, and could now do even more damage to them by signing one of their own academy stars.
Neil has been linked with Everton in the past, and they will no doubt be aware of the situation unfolding at the Stadium of Light.

West Ham have registered interest in the past
West Ham are Sunderland’s opening day opponents in August, and to see an academy star line up against them in that game would be a tough pill to swallow.
Sunderland | Games | Goals | Assists |
Neil | 48 | 2 | 3 |
However, the Hammers have been watching Neil in the past, alongside several other Black Cats stars, after their Championship campaign.
The Irons had also been linked with Xhaka, which could lead them back to Neil should the opportunity emerge.

Roma to renew Sunderland rivalry this summer
Sunderland and Roma have been shopping in similar markets this summer, having both been linked with a move to sign Georges Mikautadze and Neil El Aynaoui.
The Black Cats signed Enzo Le Fee from them in the summer, with the Serie A giants previously looking at Neil as an option.
However, with El Aynaoui’s signing confirmed, their need for a new central midfielder has been subdued, though they may look to strike if he becomes available.
