Dan Ballard axed, two changes – Sunderland predicted XI v Leeds United

Regis Le Bris could alter his Sunderland lineup with two changes as they prepare for a promotion six-pointer with Leeds United.

The Black Cats continued their remarkable home form with a 2-0 victory against Luton Town on Wednesday night.

Although the gap from the top three remains the same, Sunderland are still in the promotion picture heading into what has the potential to be a make-or-break fixture.

A win for Sunderland would dramatically increase their chances of a top-two finish, while a defeat would see them go 10 points behind the Whites.

In order to avoid the latter, Le Bris could make two changes to his lineup, with a slight reshuffle in formation.

Sunderland prepare for six-pointer v Leeds United

Anthony Patterson will start in goal for the Mackems having kept a clean sheet against the Hatters last time out in a game where he was rarely called into action.

Trai Hume has been a key figure for Sunderland this season, having registered his fourth assist in as many games against Luton. He will start at right-back with Dennis Cirkin set to occupy the opposite side.

Dan Ballard was drafted back into the team for the midweek clash, but he could drop back into the bench in favour of a return for Chris Mepham.

Mepham has been a standout performer all season and may be better equipped to deal with the technical style of play typically adopted by Leeds.

Luke O’Nien impressed again in the Luton win and should start alongside the Welshman.

Midfield reshuffle possible for Sunderland in clash v Leeds

Chris Rigg was taken off against Luton with what appeared to be a slight injury and he may miss the game at Elland Road.

Given the likelihood of the Whites dominating possession, it could be the perfect game for Salis Abdul Samed to start in a bid to minimise any threat posed.

Jobe Bellingham made his return from a minor knock on Wednesday, and will undoubtedly partner Dan Neil in midfield.

Enzo Le Fee, having impressed since arriving at Sunderland, will start once again with Patrick Roberts operating on the opposite flank.

Wilson Isidor netted his 11th goal of the season in the 2-0 win and will need to be at the top of his game if he is to influence proceedings at Elland Road.
