Crystal Palace fans rave over ‘unreal’ Sunderland star at Selhurst Park – ‘Give him the Ballon d’Or’

Sunderland gave an excellent account of themselves against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Life under Regis Le Bris has been excellent for Sunderland, and Saturday’s 0-0 draw away at Selhurst Park only amplified that.

Against the reigning FA Cup winners, Sunderland secured a point against Crystal Palace, with several summer signings once again proving their worth.

However, there was one star in particular who caught the eye of the Palace supporters, who all flocked to social media to express their disbelief.

Robin Roefs is ‘better than Pele’

Their words, not ours.

Robin Roefs was simply unstoppable against Crystal Palace, and had it not been for his heroics in goal, Saturday’s result could have had a very different outcome.

Not for the first time either, with Roefs also saving a penalty last time out when Sunderland secured a 2-1 win against Brentford.

His performance caught the attention of anyone watching the game, and Crystal Palace supporters piled the praise on the Dutchman after his Man of the Match display.

One Eagles fan said, “This Sunderland keeper woke up in the body of prime [Manuel] Neuer”, while another added, “Who is that Sunderland keeper, one of the best we’ve ever faced?”

Roefs’ stats vs Crystal Palace

Sunderland four points away from Premier League milestone

Sunderland have picked up seven points from their first four games, which averages out to 66 points a season.

It’s an unlikely outcome, but the Black Cats should take plenty of hope from the fact that every team to have picked up 11 points from the first 10 games has stayed up at the end of the campaign.

Given their current form, it almost seems like a given that they will reach that number of points, especially if they can maintain their home form.

Aston Villa are the opponents up next, having failed to score a goal in the Premier League so far this season, while Regis Le Bris’ side remain unbeaten at home, with a 100 per cent win ratio.
