Crystal Palace FA Cup triumph at Wembley another favourable omen for Sunderland

Sunderland could be set for a dream day at Wembley as they prepare to face Sheffield United in the play-off final.

The Black Cats are less than a week away from the biggest match of the season as a place in the Premier League hangs in the balance.

Mackems are set to travel in their numbers, as ever, to the home of English football for an all-or-nothing clash against Chris Wilder’s Blades.

This will dictate how fondly fans look upon Regis Le Bris, but the Frenchman can take some solace after Crystal Palace won the FA Cup on Saturday (17 May).

Crystal Palace set good omen for Sunderland

It was certainly a memorable moment for the Eagles as they picked up their first ever major trophy as they beat Manchester City 1-0 in the London sunshine.

This resonated well with football fans across the country who all have the same dream of seeing their side lift a trophy in their lifetime.

The fans travelling down south from SR5 will be hoping to replicate the success and raw emotion of the red and blue outfit in the play-off final.

It does appear that the Stadium of Light club are in a good position to do exactly that based on what has happened at Wembley throughout the season.

This campaign, the winners of both FA Cup semi-finals, the FA Cup final and the Carabao Cup final have all been sitting in the West Stand at Wembley.

Big sides like Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, and Manchester City have all fallen victim to this, and Sheffield United could become the next in that line.

As trivial as this may be, it will certainly help provide an air of confidence around the north east club as they travel down Wembley Way in just six days’ time.

Sunderland can be confident of win v Sheffield United

Crystal Palace turned up against last season’s Premier League champions, and all it took was one goal to lift the cup.

Ebere Eze’s strike with just 16 minutes gone proved to be the difference, and that could be the same for Sunderland in the coming days.

Le Bris needs to hope for a similar flash of brilliance from his key players like Enzo Le Fee, Wilson Isidor and Jobe Bellingham for the clash in the capital.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Frenchman’s side can perform, especially against a Sheffield United side filled with quality.

As it stands, the good omens appear to be behind the Black Cats, which can only be seen as a positive right now.
