Coventry v Sunderland result predicted by supercomputer
Sunderland are back on their travels this weekend, with an away encounter against playoff hopefuls Coventry City.
Off the back of a controversial 1-1 draw with Preston, Sunderland are back on the road knowing just how important a win could be.
Coventry City play host to the Black Cats on Saturday and will be just as hopeful of a win given their ambitions of a top-six finish come the end of the campaign.
While automatic promotion is looking harder to achieve, it is still mathematically possible for Regis Le Bris’ side, though anything less than a win against the Sky Blues would surely curtail those hopes.

Sunderland must improve v Coventry
Sunderland will have a fire in their belly after the way their previous encounter with Preston panned out, and it may serve them with the added incentive to secure all three points.
A playoff spot is all but confirmed for the Black Cats, though the need for a strong finish to the campaign is still as prevalent as ever. However, it won’t be as simple as that.
Championship | W | D | L | P |
Sunderland (4th) | 19 | 12 | 6 | 69 |
According to the latest supercomputer predictions via Opta, Coventry are the favourites to win the game, with a 45.5 per cent chance of taking all three points.
A draw between the two sides has a probability of 26.8 per cent, while a win for Sunderland has a 27.6 per cent chance of coming to fruition.
Of course, anything less than a win could see the gap from the leading two increase to 10 points or more, which would surely end any chances they have of achieving automatic promotion.

Le Bris must learn from past mistakes
Although Sunderland are perhaps exceeding expectations that were set at the start of the campaign, there will still be frustration at the way they have fallen away in recent weeks.
Encounters against those struggling at the bottom have proven to be the biggest challenges for the Mackems, and that simply must change ahead of the final nine games in.
After all the hard work on the pitch, it would be a shame to see it result in nothing, though without improvement, it is a possibility.
