Aaron Connolly shares what’s ‘spot on’ about Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris

Aaron Connolly has praised Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris as the Irishman continues to settle in on Wearside.

Connolly has struggled to have a major impact for the Black Cats yet after signing on a free after the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

Le Bris has shown faith in the striker in recent weeks, handing him his first start while using him as a substitute on several occasions and the Frenchman has been praised by Connolly.

In an interview with the Northern Echo (16 November), the Irishman said: “He’s the calming head that we all need leading the team. He’s obviously tactically spot on as everyone has seen.

“The work we put in on the training ground with the help of the coaches, together you can see the amount of work they put in every day. It’s up to us to work just as hard on the training pitch then Saturday and Tuesdays come a lot easier.”

Aaron Connolly has chance to rejuvenate his career at Sunderland

Although his start on Wearside hasn’t been impactful as of yet, Connolly can still use his time at the club as a real kickstarter to his career.

Upon joining the club, he spoke very openly about the troubles he has faced off the pitch that had a direct impact on his playing career although the season at Sunderland will give him the opportunity to put all of that behind him.

Connolly has plenty of ability, showcased by his time in the Premier League and loan spell at Hull last season, where he scored an impressive eight goals in his first 13 starts.

With the form of Wilson Isidor, he may find game time limited but when he gets a chance, he has to make it count or else he may find himself without a club again in the summer.

Still only 24 years old, the Irishman has many, many years ahead of him to make something of his career after such a promising start at Brighton.
