Chemsdine Talbi on verge of Sunderland milestone last achieved by Danny Welbeck
Chemsdine Talbi is just two goals away from making history with Sunderland in the Premier League.
The Moroccan certainly had a frustrating start to life at Sunderland, but his improvement has been there for all to see.
With goals against Chelsea and Newcastle in particular, Talbi has showcased his ability to provide the goods in the big moments, which is a remarkable attribute to have at his age.
The 20-year-old has four goals and an assist in the Premier League this season, having been a regular for the most part.
And he is now just two goals away from matching a record previously set by Danny Welbeck at the Stadium of Light.
Chemsdine Talbi can mark debut season with Sunderland record
Even at the ripe age of 35, Welbeck is still scoring goals for fun in the Premier League, having netted 12 in the top flight for Brighton this season.
However, his journey started with a loan move to Sunderland back in 2010, where he scored six goals in 28 appearances.
| Premier League | Talbi |
| Chances created | 12 |
| Dribbles completed | 15 |
| Shots | 22 |
| Defensive contributions | 77 |
As of today, he remains the only player aged 20 or younger to score six goals for the Black Cats in the Premier League.
But that’s where Talbi comes in. With the Moroccan turning 21 this May, he is just two goals away from matching that record set by Welbeck, and just three goals away from making it his own.

And with Tottenham, Wolves and Nottingham Forest all still to play, he may well fancy his chances of doing so.
Sunderland’s strategy summed up by Talbi’s season
Talbi looked bright at the start of the season, without doing an awful lot to showcase his quality, but that has changed with each game he has played.
The winger is looking more confident in himself, and that is reflected in the big goals he has scored in the Premier League.
As with any young player, there are still areas of his game that need improving, but the signs are there that he will grow with Sunderland and become a top player at this level for the foreseeable future.
