Supercomputer predicts what’ll happen in Burnley vs Sunderland

Sunderland travel to Burnley this weekend in their first away fixture of the Premier League season.

Regis Le Bris has passed his first test as a Premier League manager off the back of Sunderland’s 3-0 win against West Ham, but 37 remain.

Burnley are up next for Sunderland, and it could prove to be one of the toughest games of the season for various reasons.

Sunderland went unbeaten against the Clarets last season in the Championship, and will be looking to replicate that record this season in the Premier League.

Burnley are shock favourites for Saturday’s clash

Both Burnley and Sunderland are among the favourites for relegation this season, though the Black Cats have certainly bolstered their chances of survival.

Sunderland’s recruitment has blown Burnley’s out of the water, though that is not reflected by Opta‘s latest predictions for the clash at Turf Moor.

Scott Parker’s side have a 40 per cent chance of taking all three points against Sunderland, making them the favourites for the clash.

Sunderland’s record vs Burnley

Sunderland have been awarded a 31.6 per cent chance of a win, while a draw is coming in at 28.5per cent, which, based on last year’s encounters, wouldn’t be a surprise.

The Mackems are unbeaten in their last three fixtures against the Clarets, with the last outing resulting in a 0-0 draw courtesy of two missed penalties by Wilson Isidor.

Burnley fixture the type that will define Sunderland’s season

Everyone on Wearside will be well aware just how difficult it will be to survive in the Premier League, regardless of how much progress has been made on the recruitment front.

However, the key to achieving that is to win the games against the teams around you, and so far, Sunderland have.

West Ham will almost certainly be near the bottom come the end of the season, as will Burnley, and it is crucial that Sunderland build as much of a gap on those teams as possible.
