Brian Brobbey starts, £10m star dropped – Sunderland’s perfect XI as transfer window shuts

Sunderland underwent a busy transfer window as they made the final touches to their Premier League squad.

Cheslea recalled Marc Guiu from his Stadium of Light loan, which forced the Black Cats back into the transfer market.

As a result, Regis Le Bris now has Brian Brobbey, Bertrand Traore, and Lutsharel Geertruida within his ranks.

Indeed, Brobbey could slot straight into Le Bris’ starting line-up as the Wearsiders continue to focus on survival.

Brian Brobbey replaces Eliezer Mayenda in Sunderland’s best XI

Eliezer Mayenda led the line for Sunderland against West Ham and has continued to do so in the Premier League.

The teenager bagged the opening goal on his Premier League debut with a pinpoint header, but there is intense competition for his position.

That is because Wilson Isidor has acted brilliantly as a super sub, scoring two goals from the bench for the Wearsiders.

However, now that Brobbey has arrived, he will be hellbent on stealing Mayenda’s place in Le Bris’ starting XI.

While Le Bris is likely to continue to start the Spaniard, it could only be a matter of time until the new signing from Ajax fills his boots.

Dan Ballard to reclaim Sunderland starting spot from Omar Alderete

Ballard delivered an outstanding performance in Sunderland’s opener against the Hammers, but has continued his rotten luck with injuries.

Against Burnley, the centre-back was forced off after just nine minutes, and his presence was missed in the hub of defence.

Alderete partnered Nordi Mukiele against Brentford, and the latter was absolutely formidable at the back.

Indeed, it would be tough to drop either of them after such a performance, but the Frenchman in particular shone on debut.

When Le Bris has a fully fit squad, then he will have some tricky decisions to make, but that should only be seen as a positive for the Frenchman.
