Brian Brobbey and Lutsharel Geertruida have already spoken privately about Sunderland transfer
Sunderland have splashed the cash throughout this summer in an attempt to stay in the Premier League, and their spending spree is continuing on deadline day.
After Marc Guiu was recalled by Chelsea, Regis Le Bris rushed quickly to address the problem, knowing the importance of adding a striker to his squad.
Sunderland are closing in on Brian Brobbey, the talented 23-year-old Dutchman who is currently playing his football at Ajax.
Le Bris also wants to bolster his squad defensively following Dan Ballard’s injury, and Sunderland have struck an agreement for Lutsharel Geertruida, with the RB Leipzig defender undergoing his medical.

Brobbey has become a prolific striker in Europe since breaking onto the scene at Ajax, scoring and assisting in almost one every two games for the Dutch giants.

Geertruida, meanwhile, is a powerful, ball-playing centre-back who is also capable of operating on the right side of defence.
The Dutch duo will offer some superb options in two areas of the pitch, complimenting the quality Le Bris has already added to his squad this summer.
Interestingly, according to journalist Mike Verweij via De Telegraaf, Brobbey and Geertruida have ‘spoken by the phone’ and ‘want to embark on an adventure in England’ together.
Sunderland, who completed the marquee capture of Granit Xhaka earlier in the window, have shown enough ambition to stay in the Premier League, and the arrivals of Brobbey and Geertruida will only reinforce that.

Brian Brobbey is an upgrade on Marc Guiu
Guiu was seen as an astute capture from Chelsea on loan, but Brobbey is an immense upgrade on the huge Spaniard.
There were question marks over whether Guiu could score goals at Premier League level, having rarely featured in the competition previously.
Brobbey, who was once on Manchester United’s radar, has made 11 appearances in the Champions League and shown why he’s one of the Eredivisie’s hottest young talents.
So, the fact that Sunderland have essentially replaced the two on deadline day could be a stroke of fortune from the club after Liam Delap’s injury.
