‘Bournemouth put Traore on transfer list’, Sunderland want deal as bid submitted

Sunderland are not wasting any time this summer in improving their squad for the Premier League.

The Black Cats look set to sign Habib Diarra in the coming days in what is a significant coup.

Now, Hamed Traore has been added to this list of targets after he impressed in Ligue 1.

However, Regis Le Bris will face competition for the attacking midfielder’s signature.

Bournemouth demand £13.7 million for Hamed Traore

Sunderland will have to negotiate with Bournemouth if they want to sign Traore this summer.

The 25-year-old has been at the Premier League side since 2023 but has rarely featured for the Cherries.

Instead, loan moves have been favoured, with Traore spending the 2024/25 campaign at AJ Auxerre, where he netted 10 Ligue 1 goals.

Previously the attacking midfielder had been on loan to Napoli, where he competed in the Champions League during the 2023/24 campaign.

Now, according to Corriere dello Sport, page 21 (29 June), Traore has been put on the transfer list at Bournemouth.

Multiple clubs are interested in the attacking midfielder, including Sunderland, with the Cherries demanding at least £13.7 million excluding bonuses for the Ivory Coast international.

However, on top of the Black Cats, many teams in Ligue 1 also eyeing Traore.

The report states that Olympique de Marseille, as well as another French club, have bid £10.2m plus bonuses. However, this does not match Bournemouth’s asking price.

Traore is worth the risk for Le Bris

After an excellent season in Ligue 1, Le Bris should take a risk on Traore.

At £13.7m, little can go wrong, and the Ivory Coast international could prove to be a bargain.

Traore was sensational at AJ Auxerre during the 2024/25 campaign

To net 10 top-flight goals in 26 matches for a bottom-half team is a sensational feat, especially when he is not a striker.

Hopefully, Sunderland will match Bournemouth’s asking price in the coming days to ensure the 25-year-old makes the move to the Stadium of Light.
