Bologna make final Jhon Lucumi decision as Sunderland transfer saga comes to end
Jhon Lucumi has been a summer-long target for Sunderland.
Sunderland have already smashed the Premier League record for money spent by a newly-promoted side, and they are only adding to that with some late deadline day deals.
Lutsharel Geertruida is expected to join Sunderland on Monday, after a loan-to-buy agreement was struck with Leipzig.
Lucumi was seemingly Sunderland’s number one target this summer, and Bologna have had their final say on where his future lies.

Sunderland fail in late attempt to sign Jhon Lucumi
Despite Lucumi being dropped for Bologna’s clash with Como at the weekend, it is believed that a deal with Sunderland is now off the cards.
That is according to Pipe Sierra, who has reported via X that the Serie A side have refused to let him go, despite a late approach from the Black Cats.
Bologna want their centre-back to sign a new deal, though Lucumi had his heart set on a move to the Premier League.
It seemed like it would happen when Torbjorn Heggem made the move to Bologna, though, barring any dramatic late changes, the deal is now dead in the water.
Geertruida, despite being right-footed, is likely to be the alternative for Sunderland, who are also looking to tie up a deal for Brian Brobbey.

What to expect at Sunderland in final hours of window
As mentioned, both Brobbey and Geertruida are expected to become Sunderland players on Monday, potentially Tuesday, depending on how fast it can be concluded.
Patrick Roberts looks set for a move to Birmingham, while Niall Huggins is expected to link up with Mike Dodds at Wycombe Wanderers for the season.
Sunderland made an approach for Yaser Asprilla, showcasing that they are still trying to sign a winger before 7pm, though with less than two hours remaining, those hopes are looking less and less likely.
However, as showcased throughout the summer, Sunderland are capable of coming up with something from nothing, so it is impossible to rule out any other business at this stage.
