‘Armand Lauriente deal imminent’ as Sunderland accelerate forward search
Sunderland could be close to completing a deal for Armand Lauriente.
Sunderland have made significant progress so far this summer, with six new arrivals already checking in at the Stadium of Light.
Simon Adingra was the latest, with the 23-year-old becoming the Black Cats’ second attacking signing of the summer after the arrival of Chemesdine Talbi from Club Brugge.
Signing a striker has seemingly been a priority for Sunderland, but the latest update suggests that another winger could be on his way to Wearside.

Sunderland in advanced talks for Lauriente transfer
Lauriente was believed to be a target for Sunderland early on in the window, but the demands from Sassuolo caused the move to stall.
However, a report from Le Parisien (18 July) suggests that the move could be back on the cards, and could be completed in the “coming hours.”
Lauriente’s 2024/25 Serie B statistics | Total |
Appearances | 33 |
Goals | 18 |
Goal conversion | 22% |
Assists | 5 |
Big chances created | 6 |
Accurate passes | 16.6 (80%) |
The Black Cats are said to be in advanced negotiations for the Frenchman, who has previously worked with Regis Le Bris and Enzo Le Fee.
Should this deal go through, it would be yet another huge statement of intent from the Wearsiders, who are ready to compete in the Premier League.

Sunderland are making serious moves
With over £100million spent already, Sunderland are one of the highest spending clubs in the world, and have shown no signs of stopping just yet.
Deals for Granit Xhaka and Jhon Lucumi remain on the cards, while the signing of a goalkeeper will also be high up on their list of priorities before their season gets underway at home to West Ham.
If all of these deals go through, the Black Cats will have every chance of staying in the Premier League beyond the current campaign, something which all of the last six promoted teams have failed to do.
