‘Anthony Patterson exit all but sealed’ as Sunderland set for statement arrival
Anthony Patterson could be all set to leave Sunderland, with his spot as their starting goalkeeper in jeopardy.
Sunderland are gearing up for their first Premier League campaign since 2016, and are showing plenty of ambition while doing so.
After the permanent arrival of Enzo Le Fee, several players have been linked with a move to the Stadium of Light, with it said that three players are closing in on a move to Sunderland.
One of those arrivals appears to be imminent, and it could spell bad news for Patterson.

Marcin Bulka to dethrone Patterson from starting XI
Sunderland’s recent transfer links have sparked a lot of intrigue on Weaside, with Marcin Bulka one of those linked with a switch.
Since it has been claimed that the deal is advancing, and that the Nice goalkeeper could become their second signing of the summer, in what would be a huge statement of intent.
Now, given his pedigree, he won’t be coming here to play as backup to Patterson, leaving questions as to where the future lies for the latter.
Nice | Games | Clean sheets | Save percentage |
Bulka | 34 | 8 | 74.7% |
Patterson could stay as number two, but by doing so, his value would plummet, and with the Black Cats having to adhere to PSR, his sale would make sense.
Not only would they likely bank a pretty fee for his exit, but it would also all be pure profit, which is a huge factor when it comes to PSR.

Sunderland must deal wisely this summer
The Black Cats have already raised significant funds through the sales of Tommy Watson and Jobe Bellingham, putting them in a good spot when it comes to PSR.
However, with the investment needed to compete in the Premier League, they do run the risk of crossing that line, and they need to be rather meticulous with the decisions they make.
It is certainly shaping up to be an exciting few weeks on Wearside, with pre-season imminent.
