Another Sunderland exit on the cards after Dan Neil as negotiations take place for transfer
Dan Neil has left Sunderland on loan, but he may not be the only exit confirmed before the winter transfer deadline.
Neil has been praised for his professionalism at Sunderland, despite a lack of minutes this season, and his loan move to Ipswich Town spells the end of his time on Wearside.
The player has been at Sunderland since 2010, coming through the academy, but with his contract expiring in the summer and him falling out of the pecking order, his time at the club is coming to an end.
Anthony Patterson looks set to leave too, but the Black Cats still need to find a replacement for their backup goalkeeper before that can be sanctioned.
However, now another member of Regis Le Bris’ squad may be ending his time at the Stadium of Light as well.

Eliezer Mayenda could leave Sunderland this window
Eliezer Mayenda will forever go down in Sunderland folklore after his equalising goal during the 2024-2025 Championship play-off final set the Black Cats on course to return to the Premier League.
The Spanish forward played a big role in the promotion push, as he also scored a late winner in the first leg of the play-off semi-final against Coventry.
However, when it comes to the Premier League, Mayenda has not adapted to the jump in quality as many would have hoped.
He has not scored since the opening weekend of the season and has made just 14 appearances, with only five of those being starts.
Now, his time at the club could be running out after the latest reports.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Paris FC have begun negotiations to sign Mayenda from Sunderland.
With time running out in the window, it remains if Sunderland would sanction an exit, especially given time to source a replacement is low.

Will Sunderland miss Mayenda?
Mayenda has not played much of a starring role this season for Sunderland, so in truth, it would not be too much of a loss in that aspect.
The form of Brian Brobbey has put the Dutchman at the top of the pecking order, with Wilson Isidor more often than not being selected to come off the bench over Mayenda.
However, in terms of squad depth, the 20-year-old would be quite the loss.
It would leave Sunderland light in centre-forwards, and one injury to Brobbey or Isidor would spell disaster for the rest of the season.
Similar to Patterson, the Black Cats should not sanction a sale unless a replacement has been lined up.
However, Le Bris has previously hinted Mayenda could leave before the end of the window.
