‘Amad would welcome Sunderland return’ as Man United players grow unhappy
Amad was loved throughout his time at Sunderland.
Sunderland’s summer business raised eyebrows, and it is a testament to the work done by Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, Florent Ghisolfi and Kristjaan Speakman.
The Black Cats became the highest-spending promoted club in history, and with seven points from their first four games, they look as though they have invested well.
Right at the start of the window, Amad was linked with a move back to Sunderland, having impressed there on loan in the Championship, and with the downfall of Man United, a return could be on the cards this winter.

This story includes exclusive comment from former Premier League midfielder Martin Allen.
Sunderland need to ask the question in January
Amad still talks about Sunderland today, showcasing how much he loved his time at the Stadium of Light under the tenure of Tony Mowbray.
However, his performances for the Black Cats ultimately earned him a chance to showcase his ability at Old Trafford, and he very quickly established himself as a first-team regular.
With that said, the arrival of several new attackers at Man United has forced Amad out of position, and Martin Allen believes this could be the reason he would be open to a Wearside return.
Speaking exclusively to Mackem News, he said: “He will want Premier League games. He needs to play Premier League games. He’s a good player.
Amad’s record at Sunderland
- 42 appearances
- 14 goals
- 4 assists
“He’s been good for Manchester United, but with the addition of the two forwards that have come in, he will be looking to move.
“He will be. And it’s clear and obvious, VAR-like, that a lot of those Man United players are unhappy. You can see it in their body language, their demeanour.
“I think he would be open to a Sunderland return. Sunderland have recruited really good players, and he would fit into what they’ve got.”
Amad could be the difference for Sunderland
Chemsdine Talbi has not reached his potential yet, and Bertrand Traore is still waiting for his chance at Sunderland.
If there is any deal to be had for Amad, the Black Cats need to look into it with maximum conviction.
Is it unrealistic? Perhaps. However, was Granit Xhaka unrealistic?
A player of his quality will not want to be shoehorned into a defensive role in a side that is massively underachieving, and it is hard to see him rejecting a return to Wearside if the chance came around.
