View: Amad Diallo success at Manchester United could spell good news for Sunderland

Amad Diallo has exploded into the limelight at Manchester United, something which could spell good news for Sunderland in the future.

The Ivorian was remarkable during his loan spell at the Stadium of Light in 2022-23 and his influence would certainly be of use to Sunderland currently given their injury crisis that most recently consumed Tommy Watson.

Attacking woes have haunted Sunderland this season but their role in the development of Amad could give them a massive boost in their possible chase to sign Premier League loanees in what could be a busy January transfer window.

The winger has risen to the top of the Manchester United ranks and other clubs may look at the Black Cats as the preferred destination for any loan departees given the success of Amad.

Sunderland need attacking reinforcements in January

With the impact of Amad’s loan in mind, Sunderland need to be ambitious with their dealings in January and the chase to sign Louie Barry on loan from Aston Villa (Sunday Mirror) is a good indication of that.

Injuries have caused the Black Cats to regress in recent weeks having won just two of their last nine Championship encounters and January must be used to strengthen in the required areas if promotion is to remain a realistic target.

Clubs will look at the youth-orientated approach on Wearside as a crucial factor when deciding where to send their highest-rated loan players and their ability to develop players is impressive.

Sunderland’s handling of Amad has certainly done them the world of good when it comes to that reputation and they must use that to their advantage when entering the transfer window.
