Alan Shearer worries for Ruben Amorim as Man United vs Sunderland verdict shared

Alan Shearer has been surprisingly full of praise for Sunderland over the last few weeks.

Sunderland head into Saturday’s clash against Man United inside the top six, having enjoyed a wonderful start to life back in the Premier League.

Regis Le Bris has proved his credentials, as have several of the new summer signings, including the likes of Nordi Mukiele and Robin Roefs.

Mukiele, in particular, has caught the eye of Shearer already this season, who has been impressed with what he has seen from the Black Cats.

Sunderland still predicted to lose vs Man United

Despite all of the praise Shearer has lauded the Black Cats with, he has still predicted a defeat for the Wearsiders when they travel to Old Trafford.

Ultimately, it is a must-win game for the under-pressure Ruben Amorim, who has only picked up two more Premier League points than Sundelrand since April.

With that said, despite predicting a defeat for Sunderland, Shearer has expressed how impressed he has been by the way they have adapted to the Premier League.

Via Metro, he said: “Sunderland had a great result last weekend and have made an incredible start to the season. I have no confidence at all in Manchester United, but I do think they’ll beat Sunderland.

“It also wouldn’t surprise me if Sunderland get something, and if they do, you’d have to worry for Ruben Amorim. Without having any belief whatsoever, I’m just going to say home win.

Ruben Amorim sack update emerges ahead of Sunderland clash

Amorim is facing a lot of scrutiny at Man United, and when you look at their record since his appointment, it is easy to see why.

The Red Devils have won just 18 of the 9 Premier League games he has been in charge of, and are yet to win two in a row.

With that said, Manchester Evening News have reported that he still has the backing of the hierarchy at Old Trafford, though a defeat on Saturday will raise more questions.

Man United have not lost against a promoted side since 2021, meaning a defeat to Sunderland would amplify their downfall.
